Dear Sacred Heart Families,
“We, at Sacred Heart School, nurture and educate each child to be lifelong learners who value the sanctity of life, and endeavor to grow in and defend the Catholic faith. We strive to continue our rich heritage of religious and academic excellence in a Christ-filled environment, both now and for the future.”
This school year, we will host the Middle States Evaluation Team for reaccreditation November 3rd-6th. Our administration, faculty, parents, and parish have all been a part of the self study conducted last school year. From the self study, the following goals have been established:
- By 2022-2023 school year, all students at Sacred Heart of Jesus School in grades K-8 will demonstrate progress in academic achievement as evidenced by daily math computation timed drill worksheets, school designed Benchmark Tool, and ITBS standardized testing. The evidence will be indicated by increased math computation fluency scores of 10% with the School Benchmark Tool and increased ITBS math computation scores of 2-3%. Daily reinforcement of math computation fluency will occur with 1 minute math fluency drills.
- By 2022-2023 school year, all students at Sacred Heart of Jesus School in grades K-8 will be completing or progressing toward service portfolios that demonstrate a focus on parish community, school community, or other community aspects to reveal how our faith can be shared through Christ-like actions with others.
- By 2022-2023 School Year, Sacred Heart of Jesus School will have a fully operational hot lunch program that serves nutritionally balanced lunches 5 days a week.
These goals will be researched and developed over the next 5-7 years. In addition to our above goals, our surveys showed that our students and parents would like more positivity in their daily school environment, especially at the middle school level. Thus, in conjunction with the above goals, several areas are being explored to improve the school culture especially with the middle school. We are beginning a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) model for empowering our youth to SNAP! SNAP stands for Self-control, Noteworthy, Awareness, and Politeness. As the year unfolds you will learn more about this program. We will be requesting families to complete a survey in the beginning of the year to find additional ways to enrich our student’s activities and their interests. We are adding resource time to the middle school schedule for our students to independently work on their specific individual needs. Last, we are working towards a full building wireless signal to improve our connectivity with increased use of electronic devices throughout all grades.
Our school theme for this year is:
" You are the light of the world "
Attached to this letter you will find dates of the upcoming events and school information. Don’t forget to make plans to attend our Back to School Picnic on Thursday, August 13th from 6:00-7:30pm and mark your calendars for another Parent Open House on October 1st during the school day. This day will provide you with an opportunity to see what occurs in the classrooms during instructional time. More information will be forthcoming on this event.
Parents are the primary educators and the first teachers of faith for their children. Sacred Heart supports your family to nurture your child in a Christ-filled environment. May you continue to have a blessed and safe summer.
