School Advisory Board

Letter from the President

Dear Sacred Heart Families,

In the first Family folder of 2014 there was a request for parents interested in working on a committee to develop By-Laws and Constitution for the eventual formation of a School Board.  I checked the box and luckily a committed and knowledgeable group of parents did the same.  We spent the next month’s hashing through debating, and praying on the development of the now ratified By-Laws and Constitution.    I was struck by the passion and interest this group had for Sacred Heart School and its continued success.   The By-Laws and Constitution are posted and I would encourage people to take the time to read it.   What is the school Advisory Board?  Foremost the word “Advisory” is not there by accident; The School Advisory Board works with the Principal and Pastor on policy development and implementation in areas such as finance, development/institutional advancement, facilities, community (school/parish), and public relations/marketing.  The charter is to support the Principal and Pastor, as topics come up we will discuss, collaborate and vote--the final decisions, are as has been up to the Principal and Pastor.

For me personally, I checked the box to support the committee because I believe in the fundamentals of a Catholic Education, with a storied tradition of educational excellence, where the core values that identify Sacred Heart are dignity, doctrine and service.  The faculty and staff prepare our children to act with initiative and integrity, to engage the world as a place in which God can be found in all things.  I believe in Mrs. Noel and what she has worked to create.  I believe in the teachers who have made a choice to be here, to create an academic experience of excellence for our children.  When you walk around the school it is clear the dedication, commitment and heart that goes into creating what Sacred Heart School is today.

Sacred Heart School has a strong tradition of parental involvement and volunteerism.  One of the major benefits with a private school and even more so with a catholic education is your ability to be involved in its success; believe me your children appreciate your belief in their school.  Your continued support is not only needed but necessary, check the box get involved.
